 Did you know?

JJ White has a group of 13 people who are going to Long Beach, Mississippi,
on July 20-23 to work with Presbytery Recovery (post Katrina)
on new construction for the folks there.  They will stay in facilites of
Long Beach Presbyterian Church.

The Long Beach church has graciously and generously dedicated
its building and grounds to this effort since Katrina.

The following is a quote from the site materials sent to each church group who participates in this Katrina recovery effort:

"On behalf of Long Beach Presbyterian Church, the Presbytery of Mississippi and the Disaster Recovery Team, we want to thank you for offering your service to the recovery efforts.  The recovery efforts will be a part of our lives for years.  It is with the help of loving folks like you that we are making a difference in the lives of people every day.  The Presbytery work here is a holistic approach.  We want to help individuals and families have a home and food to eat.  But, we want it to go beyond that.  We want to minister to their spiritual life.  We have much work and we are God’s hands in that process.  We thank you for sharing in this Mission Field."

Beverly Yates, chair of the Bereavement Committee, has suggested that casseroles may be placed in the freezer at any time and marked for Beverly's Committee. These casseroles will be used to provide food for families who have experienced illness or death of a loved one.

The Reverend Dr. Ben Mathes from
Rivers of the World (www.row.org ) visited JJ White Memorial Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, May 14th.  We were fascinated and motivated by his presentation and are planning ways to participate in and support his ministry.
