JJ White has a long history of participation in missions. We have held missions conferences annually for the past thirty years. These conferences are exciting events with guests to inspire and inform us, special music, local work projects, and, of course, meals to bring us together to focus on missions. Our congregation not only pledges generously, but also gives time and physical labor to missions. JJ White participation in work projects in Belize and Mexico have gone on for decades. We have worked on rebuilding projects on the Mississippi Gulf Coast post Katrina, and other locations all over the world.

July Mission Trip to Gulf Coast In the summers of 2008 and 2009, JJ White sent a group to the Mississippi Gulf Coast to work on Katrina recovery construction. The team stayed in facilities at Long Beach Presbyterian Church and worked on new home construction there. A mission trip is now being planned for 2010. Information as to when and where will be posted when plans are completed. (Pictures from the 2008 trip below.)

Ben Mathes/Rivers of the World As stated on the ROW website... "Rivers of The World (ROW) is a not-for-profit Christian ministry that targets remote river basins. Our goal is to serve with people who live in these river basins and those we serve determine our projects. We ask them what makes up their greatest challenges and covenant with them to meet and overcome those challenges together ROW emphasizes that it is their country, their village, their culture, but our problem. Our goal is to serve in an atmosphere of mutual concern and respect. ROW projects run the gamut of human, physical and spiritual needs. Academics, research, education and medical/dental concerns go hand in hand with church planting, construction, evangelism and Bible distribution."
We were excited to hear Ben Mathes describe the mission projects and programs carried on by ROW. Plans are being made to participate in some of these projects. Everyone attending this Wednesday Night Fellowship with Ben was inspired by his stories and experiences. (Pictures below)
Ben explains how Rivers of the World got started and his love for the people he serves through ROW projects.
Interest was expressed with questions.
These guys contributed and got ROW caps!
Rusty organized this project to send school supplies to kids served by Rivers of the World.
Ziplock bags of school supplies are readied for shipping.
Betty and other "knutty knitters" have made these adorable baby hats for Rivers of the World to distribute. When ROW goes into a community, children are given these little hats. Ben reports that the kids sometimes continue to keep and wear them for years! A Legacy of Service to Missions
