Ben Mathes/Rivers of the World

As stated on the ROW website...
"Rivers of The World (ROW) is a not-for-profit Christian ministry that targets remote river basins. Our goal is to serve with people who live in these river basins and those we serve determine our projects. We ask them what makes up their greatest challenges and covenant with them to meet and overcome those challenges together

ROW emphasizes that it is their country, their village, their culture, but our problem. Our goal is to serve in an atmosphere of mutual concern and respect.

ROW projects run the gamut of human, physical and spiritual needs. Academics, research, education and medical/dental concerns go hand in hand with church planting, construction, evangelism and Bible distribution
."

We were excited to hear Ben Mathes describe the mission projects and programs carried on by ROW. Plans are being made to participate in some of these projects.  Everyone attending this Wednesday Night Fellowship with Ben was inspired by his stories and experiences.

Kn
utty Knitters
This group meets on Thursday night each week at 7:00 in the Ewell Martin Room at JJ White.  Folks who like to knit, crochet, cross stitch or other types of needlework are included as well as anyone who would like to learn.  See Betty Penick for further information

Betty and other "knutty knitters"
have made these adorable baby hats for Rivers of the World to distribute.  When ROW goes into a community, children are given these little hats. Ben reports that the kids sometimes continue to keep and wear them for years! If you like to knit and want to help, contact Betty for the pattern etc.

Helen Lacey Visits

Helen Lacey visited our Wednesday Night Fellowship and presented information about her work in Belize.  She and her husband Tom (deceased) have started and continued many projects there since the seventies.  Pictured with Helen is David Kimble (left) who went on the first JJ White mission trip to Belize.  Also pictured are John Drummond and Charles Ray.  They both have worked on mission projects with Helen and Tom in Belize.

Spring Cleanup Day

Spring Cleanup Day was a great success. We had about 22 people with rakes, blowers, power washers, loppers and brooms.  The gym and surrounding areas look
much better now.  Whitney grilled hamburgers and chicken, and we enjoyed a delicious lunch together. Thanks to Susan White and the Christian Ed Committee for organizing the day, and thanks to all who came and worked or gave moral support.
